Three ISIS members have been apprehended in the Nowshahr region of Mazandaran province, Iran. The police commander of Nowshahr stated to the media yesterday that these individuals had planned to attack one of the country’s tourist hubs. Iranian authorities have not disclosed the identities of the arrested individuals.
In a separate report, Turkish media reported that on October 3rd, a Syrian national identified as Rami H. was arrested in Istanbul for manufacturing explosives for ISIS. It has been reported that he was providing instruction on bomb-making techniques to ISIS members located outside of Turkey, as well as devising strategies to target sites within Istanbul.
It is important to note that both Turkey and Iran are utilized by ISIS as transit routes for the movement of its personnel and funds within the region.
