Hafiz Sayed Muhammad Talha, son of Qari Sayed Badruddin Hashimi, was born in 1371 SH (c.1992 CE) in Shah Toot village, Sayyad District of Sar-e Pol Province, into a deeply religious and mujahid family. From the very beginning, he stood out as one of the devoted and steadfast sons of that pious household, dedicating his blessed life to the pursuit of knowledge, service to others, and the path of jihad. Even as a child, he displayed a remarkable love for religious learning and was nurtured in an environment steeped in faith and sincerity.
Early Religious Education
Talha began his academic journey at Kawsar al-Uloom Madrasa, where he completed the memorization of the Holy Qur’an and was honored with the title of Hafiz. His thirst for knowledge did not stop there. He went on to study at several renowned institutions, including Archatu, Khanqah, and Rahmania, where he deepened his understanding of Islamic sciences. Alongside skill in religious sciences, he cultivated noble character, humility, and the spirit of sacrifice.
Joining the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA)
In 1394 SH (2015 CE), Hafiz Muhammad Talha joined the devoted mujahideen of the IEA. Through his sincerity, courage, and tireless dedication, he quickly earned the respect of his peers and became known as an influential and trusted mujahid in the provinces of Sar-e Pol and Jawzjan. His service was marked by a quiet resolve and an unwavering sense of purpose that inspired all who worked alongside him.
Struggle Against ISIS and Martyrdom
When the Khariji ISIS group emerged in 1397 SH (2018 CE) and began spreading chaos and fear among the people of Darzab District, the mujahideen of the IEA rose in defense of the people and their homeland. Among them stood Hafiz Talha, steadfast and fearless, taking his place on the front lines with unshakable faith and pure intention.
On the 15th of Saratan (July 6, 2018), during a fierce battle in the village of Akhplaq, Darzab District, he was captured by ISIS-Khawarij. After fourteen days in captivity, on a Friday, he was brutally martyred by the enemies of religion and humanity. His sacrifice remains an enduring scar upon the face of extremism and a shining testament to the courage of those who stand firm upon the truth.
Victory After Martyrdom
Only twenty days after the martyrdom of Hafiz Muhammad Talha and his companions in the cause of Allah, the mujahideen of the IEA delivered a crushing defeat to ISIS and fully liberated the Darzab District of Jawzjan Province. That victory was not merely a military triumph; it was a divine blessing, born from the pure and selfless blood of those who gave their lives for the sake of truth.
