The security officials of the Iraqi government announced on Thursday, March 28, that they successfully neutralized a prominent ISIS leader by the name of Samir Khader Sharif Shihan Al-Nimrawi in a targeted operation along the border with Syria.
According to the report, Samir Khader Al-Nimrawi was responsible for the transportation of terrorists, weapons, equipment, and explosives across the Iraqi-Syrian borders.
An additional media source cited Iraqi officials who stated that Al-Nimrawi previously oversaw ISIS finances in Raqqa.
It is important to highlight that the Iraqi government initiated the third phase of the operation last week in Salah al-Din and Kirkuk provinces with the objective of eradicating the remaining Daesh militants.
Iraq was once a stronghold for ISIS-Khawarij, however, following the collapse of their self-proclaimed caliphate, the Iraqi ISIS faction now finds themselves grappling with internal espionage, frequently avoiding claiming responsibility for their operations in order to safeguard themselves.
