From the day it first appeared until today, Islam has raised followers who have always believed that nothing is more precious than Islam itself, its divine commands, and its sacred system. Relying on their Creator, these believers have shown the tyrants and oppressors of every age, both past and present, that no force can turn them away from defending the Islamic system and Islamic rule.
When we look back at the history between Muslims and their enemies, we see that time and again those enemies have been forced to admit the courage and sacrifice of Muslims after suffering one humiliating defeat after another. Another nation that has never bowed before foreign domination or accepted the rule of outsiders is the people of Afghanistan. This is a land that has passed through both peace and hardship throughout its history, yet it has never accepted slavery or submission imposed by any unbelieving power, nor will it ever do so. The treacherous America and NATO were only the latest invaders to leave in defeat and disgrace.
Today, after passing through many difficult stages and with the Islamic system now in power, one of the country’s greatest needs is to leave behind the atmosphere of division and move toward stability, reform, and reconstruction. From an Islamic perspective, differences of opinion among people are natural. But Islamic law has laid down principles and limits so that disagreement does not turn into hostility, division, and harm to society. The true objective must always remain the protection of religion, the Islamic system, people’s lives, public security, and the common good.
A believer should not make decisions based only on emotions, prejudice, or narrow personal understanding. He should weigh the facts, the circumstances of the time, and the consequences of every action. Allah the Almighty says:
﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُونُوا قَوَّامِينَ لِلَّهِ شُهَدَاءَ بِالْقِسْطِ﴾ (المائدة: 8)
“O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice…”
(Surah Al-Ma’idah: 8)
One of Islam’s greatest teachings is also the preservation of unity among Muslims. The history of the Muslim Ummah has repeatedly shown that internal disputes and division only bring weakness and loss. Allah the Almighty says:
﴿وَلَا تَنَازَعُوا فَتَفْشَلُوا وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْ﴾ (الأنفال: 46)
“And do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and [then] your strength would depart…”
(Surah Al-Anfal: 46)
Once disagreement crosses the limits set by morality and Sharia, it no longer solves problems. Instead, it deepens people’s suffering. Every decision should therefore be made with the unity of society and the future of the nation in mind.
Islam calls its followers toward reform, but reform in Islam must always be guided by wisdom, knowledge, and the proper method. Opposition and criticism can be beneficial if they come from sincerity and a genuine desire for reform. But when they become a cause of disorder, insecurity, and harm to the people, they cannot produce the desired outcome. This is especially true of those who today seek to spread division only to serve Western agendas or satisfy their own personal desires and lawlessness.
Afghanistan has spent many long years living through war and insecurity. Throughout that time, ordinary people paid the highest price. Families were left in mourning, opportunities for progress were destroyed, and the country faced one hardship after another.
Both reason and Sharia teach that people should learn from experience. Returning to the same path that brought pain, destruction, and suffering cannot become the answer to future problems. In Islamic law, the protection of human life is one of the highest objectives of the religion. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) repeatedly emphasized the sanctity of Muslim life and property in his sayings.
A society can only move forward when its people live in security, children receive an education, the economy grows, and opportunities exist to serve the public. No objective should ever become an excuse for harming innocent people.
Afghanistan can move toward progress only through cooperation, knowledge, expertise, and the combined efforts of every part of society. Scholars, educated people, young people, and respected members of the community all have a responsibility to work for the public good. Differences of opinion may always exist, but permanent hostility is never the answer. A society that manages its disagreements through reason, Sharia, and dialogue creates the strongest foundation for stability and progress.
The message to everyone who holds different views is simple. Great issues are not settled through emotion and conflict. They are resolved through knowledge, wisdom, patience, and careful consideration of the public interest.
Islam calls Muslims to justice, brotherhood, reform, and avoiding discord. Yet, unfortunately, there are still those who seek to undermine and destroy the Islamic system. They should take a lesson from the foreign invaders and arrogant powers that came to this land with pride and self-importance, only to end up choosing a humiliating retreat over remaining here after suffering defeat, disgrace, and failure.
