The Pakistani regime’s airstrikes on Afghanistan and its repeated violations of the country’s airspace and territorial integrity are not really about targeting militant groups. Rather, Pakistan’s military generals are trying to use these authoritarian, oppressive, and irrational actions to divert public attention from the crises, political turmoil, and internal unrest consuming their own country. Today, disorder and instability have spread across Pakistan. People from every section of society have grown tired of the failed and dysfunctional system that governs them, and many are waiting impatiently for it to collapse. The irony is that a regime unable to provide even basic security within its own borders has little ground to claim it can confront Afghanistan.
The armed forces of any country are meant to protect their people and defend their homeland, not to deprive their own citizens of peace, safety, and security, as the Pakistani regime has done. Today, because of this unstable system, no ordinary Pakistani feels truly safe. Even so, the regime continues trying to shift the blame for its domestic failures onto other countries.
The issue of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has been one of Pakistan’s main security challenges for years. The group’s roots, networks, and operational space all lie within Pakistan itself. For that reason, any real solution must begin with reforming Pakistan’s own domestic, security, and social policies and managing them effectively.
Blaming other countries for internal problems, without clear evidence or genuine regional cooperation, has never produced a lasting solution. Fighting armed groups requires coordination, sincerity, and a comprehensive effort to address the conditions that give rise to extremism and allow it to grow.
The Pakistani regime should understand that it cannot continue taking advantage of the patience and restraint of the Afghan people. We are the heirs of brave forefathers whose courage, honor, and proud history are known to everyone. In the end, if stability and security are truly the goal, the better path is for the Pakistani regime to abandon its reckless actions, stop making baseless accusations, accept responsibility for its own failures, and take practical steps to address the problems within its own country.
