The leader of Hamas’ Islamic and Jihadi movement, Yahya Ibrahim Hassan al-Sinwar, attained martyrdom yesterday during a direct confrontation with Israeli occupying forces.
Martyr Hassan al-Sinwar was appointed head of Hamas’ political bureau following the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh.
Al-Sinwar was a wise, astute military, and political leader who dedicated his entire life to direct combat against Israeli forces, engaging in the noble struggle for the liberation of his land. He ultimately achieved his greatest aspiration, which was martyrdom.
Born on October 29, 1962, in a refugee camp near Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, al-Sinwar completed his primary education at the camp’s boys’ school and later received a bachelor’s degree in Arabic from the Islamic University of Gaza.
Throughout his struggle, al-Sinwar was imprisoned multiple times, spending over two decades behind bars. He was once sentenced to life imprisonment but was later released in a prisoner exchange deal.
On October 7 of last year, Hamas carried out highly successful operations inside Israeli settlements, resulting in the deaths of many Israeli soldiers and the capture of a large number of others. After these operations, al-Sinwar became Israel’s most wanted figure, with his elimination becoming a key strategic objective for Israel.
Until his last breath, he remained on the front lines with his fighters, battling against the occupying forces. He never surrendered and revitalized the memory of a true heroic leader.
Martyr al-Sinwar achieved his objective. In an old video, he stated, “My greatest dream is to be killed by Israel.” Despite accusations from his enemies that he hid among prisoners, al-Sinwar courageously faced his enemies in battle and was martyred, achieving his ultimate goal.
Martyr al-Sinwar was a shining star in Islamic history, dedicating his entire life to a sacred struggle and jihad. He instilled fear in the hearts of his enemies, thwarted their nefarious plans, and caused them to lose sleep. His name alone was enough to strike fear in his adversaries.
