In Syria, a number of commanders took up arms against ISIS. As a result, they withdrew from the jihad against the Assad regime. This led to some of them being martyred. Similarly, several Islamic countries declared jihad against this infamous and dangerous group.
Not only the people of Syria, but also various Arab nations had questions regarding the ruling on this conflict—especially concerning those who are killed while fighting this Western-backed group: are they considered martyrs or not?
There was also a period of debate over the pilots who participated in operations against ISIS. Many renowned scholars were hesitant to issue a clear ruling in this matter. Some even did not consider those killed while fighting ISIS to be martyrs—a position that we strongly reject.
People frequently ask about the crimes committed by this false group in the name of Islam. In addition, many non-Muslims also question the Sunni Islamic stance on ISIS. Given the widespread public misclassification of ISIS followers as Sunnis, there is a growing demand for clarification: to what extent do ISIS’s ideologies and actions represent Islam?
This clarification is urgently needed because certain Western media outlets are exploiting the situation to create a false perception between ISIS’s ideology and the true path of Islam. A notable example of this is Fox News.
Western media have extracted certain fundamental elements from ISIS’s fatwas, positions, and crimes to spread fear about Islam among Western audiences. This is despite the fact that Islam is spreading and progressing day by day in the West, with more people embracing it.
Allah willing, we will present the Islamic legal ruling regarding the fight against the Khawarij in general, and ISIS in particular. Based on methodological evidence, we have reached the conclusion that all actions of this corrupt group are in total contradiction with Sharia, their claim of establishing a Caliphate is invalid, and it is an obligation upon the people of the region to wage war against them in order to eliminate the presence of this Western and malicious group from the face of the earth.
