In the early stages of its false caliphate, ISIS managed to attract a significant number of followers through extensive propaganda, taking advantage of the emotions of unaware Muslim youth.
During that period, individuals worldwide, who had witnessed the hardships faced by Muslims and sought a solution to such challenges, viewed the establishment of ISIS’s caliphate as a potential means to improve the Ummah’s situation. Consequently, people from various regions were prepared to join the organization, and multiple factions aligned themselves with ISIS’s fictional caliphate.
Nevertheless, as time progressed and the true intentions of ISIS became evident, their deception was uncovered. Presently, a diminishing number of individuals are inclined to join or support ISIS.
Despite this decline, a small faction persists, disguising themselves as members of ISIS. Whether knowingly or unwittingly, they continue to offer themselves up in service to non-Muslim interests. The majority of these individuals lack a deep understanding of authentic Islamic teachings and possess dubious pasts, having navigated from one misguided path to another.
Numerous instances underscore the tainted backgrounds of ISIS members. For instance, the current leader of ISIS in Khorasan, Sanaullah Ghafari, formerly served as a personal bodyguard to Amrullah Saleh, a former corrupt Afghan official.
Similarly, when a hostage situation occurred in a Russian prison, and the perpetrators were eventually killed, ISIS Khawarij claimed responsibility. However, investigations later revealed that those involved had previously been arrested for drug trafficking.
Most recently, the U.S. Department of Justice disclosed the apprehension of a 27-year-old Afghan national linked to a plot to carry out an attack on Election Day. As per reports from NBC News and two U.S. government officials, Nasir Ahmad Toheedi was seized by the FBI in Oklahoma while in possession of two Kalashnikov rifles and ammunition, intending to conduct an assault.
Notably, akin to numerous other misled ISIS combatants, this individual purportedly had a history of collaboration with the CIA in Afghanistan before relocating to the United States in September 2021, among the multitude of intelligence agents and militants evacuated from Afghanistan by American authorities.
These episodes, in conjunction with other documented incidents, unequivocally unmask the true essence of ISIS members. It is clear that global intelligence networks exert considerable influence over the leadership, structure, and operations of ISIS.
This group’s actions serve as a clear warning, showing they are a serious threat to the Muslim Ummah. Muslims must remain vigilant and steer clear of this misguided group.
