With deceitful promises and elaborate propaganda, Daesh had lured countless gullible Muslims into its bloodthirsty ranks by proclaiming that the jihadist groups in Syria had strayed away from the true Islam. They spread various false rumors against them, casting doubts about the sincere mujahideen, all to perpetuate their own reign of terror and brutality against Islam and Muslims.
In January 2014, Daesh reached an agreement with their Western and Eastern masters and seized control of the city of Raqqa, previously held by Syrian mujahideen, thus inscribing a chapter of barbarity and brutality in history.
Raqqa
Raqqa, the provincial capital of the Raqqa Governorate, stands as a central metropolis in northeastern Syria, nestled along the banks of the Euphrates River. According to the census, its population numbered 220,488, making it the sixth-largest city in the nation, with the majority of its inhabitants adhering to Sunni Islam.
Upon seizing control of Raqqa, Daesh declared it their capital, initiating a storm of oppression and terror. Their agents publicly executed supporters of the mujahideen in squares and streets and raided their homes. The Syrian public grew weary of their tyranny, and mourning enveloped their households.
The occupation of Raqqa laid bare ISIS’s treachery and their true enmity towards Islam. They reveled in the slaughter of Syrian Muslims as though they had vanquished a city belonging to disbelievers.
Their control over Raqqa coincided with a time when the US-backed Kurdish Democratic Party was planning to capture the city of Raqqa and had repeatedly tried to attack the mujahideen but had failed to do so. However, when Daesh took over Raqqa, it gave the Kurdish Democratic Party the confidence to launch attacks against the mujahideen, thus opening yet another front against the mujahideen.
