The Iraqi National Security Service (INSS) announced today, Saturday, that an ISIS network was dismantled during operations in Kirkuk province, and the group’s emir for Kurdistan was captured alive.
As per the official Iraqi state agency, citing the spokesperson of the National Security Service, the operation took place in the city of Sulaymaniyah. This resulted in the neutralization of a seven-member ISIS group and the capture of Azad Sakhi, the Emir of the Khawarij for Kurdistan, alive.
Iraq has been recognized as the birthplace of the ISIS insurgency. However, it is currently known as a center of espionage activities among ISIS members themselves, with dozens of individuals being captured alive or killed there each month.
