Today, Wednesday (the 9th of Jumada al-Thani), Al-Haj Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani, the Minister of Refugees and Repatriation Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, was martyred in a reprehensible attack.
As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for this enigmatic attack. However, considering the threats made by accounts associated with the Pakistani military prior to the attack and the nature of the incident, it is highly probable that ISIS will claim responsibility.
(A few hours prior to the attack, an account bearing the name “Eagle Eye” and associated with the Pakistani military posted a message indicating, “Get Ready: Another Batch Soon.” Following the attack on Shaheed Khalil-ur-Rahman Haqqani, Eagle Eye deleted the post and subsequently released multiple statements regarding Haqqani Sahib’s martyrdom.)
Based on previous incidents and the utilization of ISIS by specific intelligence agencies in the neighboring regions of Afghanistan to accomplish their objectives, it is conceivable that this attack was also executed by ISIS under indirect guidance from these intelligence networks, which have previously been implicated in the targeted killings of Afghanistan’s intellectual, jihadi, and societal Personalities.
