Austrian media outlets have disclosed that a detained ISIS member committed suicide by hanging himself at a detention center.
As per reports, the 40-year-old ISIS affiliate originally hailed from Dagestan. He was apprehended late last year and charged with planning attacks on targets in Austria under the direction of Khorasani Khawarij.
Media sources state that he was set to be repatriated to Dagestan, Russia last Thursday morning. However, he took his own life by hanging himself in his detention facility just a few hours prior to his scheduled deportation to Russia.
It is important to highlight that Germany and Austria are the primary European countries where a significant number of individuals with ties to ISIS from Central Asia reside, and a number of them have been taken into custody in recent months.
