In our modern age, many people, including entire governments, measure strength by material standards. They see power in wealth, in vast arsenals, and in advanced military technology. To them, those who hold economic, military, and technological superiority are destined to prevail, while weaker nations appear condemned to submission or silence. Yet this view is deeply misguided, for it overlooks the true source of human strength: faith, resolve, and an unwavering commitment to truth.
Both history and the Noble Qur’an testify that victory is not won through wealth or force but through sincere belief in Allah Almighty and steadfastness upon the path of righteousness. The Qur’an declares:
“How many a small company has overcome a large company by Allah’s permission. And Allah is with the patient.” (al-Baqarah 2:249)
In this verse, Allah reminds us that even when the enemy outnumbers and outguns the believers, triumph belongs to those who combine patience with faith and unshakable determination.
The Battle of Badr remains the clearest example. Though vastly outnumbered and poorly equipped, the early Muslims stood firm before a powerful army of idolaters. Their hearts brimmed with faith and certainty, and they witnessed divine aid descend upon them, leading to a victory that forever changed the course of history.
Faith is the wellspring of strength, courage, and endurance. A believer does not fear poverty, nor does he shrink before the greed and might of his enemies, for he knows that truth ultimately prevails. In defending one’s homeland, beliefs, and honor, it is faith that shields the heart from doubt and transforms courage into steadfast dignity. When nations hold fast to their values, aggressors are repelled, for faith kindles in the heart a flame that no weapon can extinguish.
This truth shines clearly today in the struggle of the Afghan people. The enemies of this land strive to weaken the nation’s will through financial pressure, propaganda, and military aggression. Pakistani regime’s open hostility and the mercenary bands such as ISIS, though armed with power and deception, are devoid of faith and principle. In contrast, the valiant sons of Afghanistan possess hearts filled with love for their homeland and unwavering trust in Allah, the Almighty.
They stand shoulder to shoulder in defense of their country’s honor and identity. They have proven to the world that a nation anchored in faith does not fear, and that the soil of dignified people cannot be subdued. Though their material means may be limited, they wield a force stronger than any cannon or tank: the power of faith and conviction. The Qur’an affirms this eternal truth:
“If you support Allah, He will support you and make your foothold firm.” (Muhammad 47:7)
This promise assures that those who remain steadfast in Allah’s cause and resist oppression will find their strength reinforced and their steps made firm by divine support.
Both sacred history and revelation teach that victory is born from faith, not from wealth; it is the harvest of conviction, not of arms. If triumph were determined solely by material might, no prophet would ever have overcome the tyranny of his age. Yet the resolve of the prophets, the perseverance of the believers, and the honor of the truth-upholders built an unbreakable wall against the waves of injustice and aggression.
Therefore, we must cherish faith as our greatest wealth and defend our land, our creed, and our honor under all circumstances. True faith never yields to despair, and a nation that places its trust in Allah, the Almighty, will never be defeated.
