Illustrious Personalities of the Ummah
Throughout the history of Islam, the illustrious personalities of the Muslim community have sacrificed their lives to uphold the sacred religion of Islam. This tradition of perseverance and honor continues to this day. Thousands of courageous and jihad-loving youth have shed their blood under the banner of devotion to Islam. Among these heroes is Martyr Engineer Wali-ur-Rehman Rehan.
Martyr Engineer Wali-ur-Rehman Rehan was born in the year 1371 Hijri Shamsi (H.S.) in the village of Biland Baba Khel, Jaghatu district of Maidan Wardak province, into the family of Haji Abdul Qadeer.
1. Education:
Wali-ur-Rahman commenced his early religious studies in the village mosque under the tutelage of Mawlawi Habib-ur-Rahman Hamad. Concurrently, he pursued modern education at Ghazi Muhammad Jan Khan High School.
Upon completion of his studies, he successfully passed the university entrance examination and was admitted to the Energy Department of the Engineering Faculty at Kandahar University. Additionally, he actively engaged in the jihad against American invaders, local collaborators, and other adversaries.
Wali-ur-Rahman harbored a deep desire to fight for the cause of Allah and attain martyrdom. During university breaks, he joined fellow Mujahideen on the battlefield, showcasing his military prowess and inflicting significant losses on the enemy.
He took part in offensive and guerrilla operations in the districts of Jaghatu, Chak, Sayedabad, and Jalga in Wardak province. Acknowledged for his bravery and dedication as a Mujahid, he earned the trust of community leaders. However, before completing his four-year degree, American forces and their local allies (known as “01” and “02” units) initiated nightly operations in provinces such as Wardak, Logar, and Ghazni.
These operations resulted in the loss of numerous lives, including women and children, as well as the destruction of many homes, leaving the populace in dire circumstances. Confronted with such atrocities, Wali-ur-Rahman opted to temporarily suspend his university studies and actively participate in jihadist activities in Wardak.
In a brief period, he became a proficient and influential combatant within the ranks of the Islamic Emirate, eventually being deployed to Nangarhar province to counter the Daesh (ISIS) insurgents.
2. Jihadi Activities in Nangarhar:
In Nangarhar, Wali-ur-Rahman fervently battled against the Daesh insurgents for a duration exceeding six months. Alongside his comrades from Wardak, he achieved notable victories over Daesh, liberating various regions and districts from their grip.
3. Martyrdom:
This courageous Mujahid met his martyrdom on the auspicious night of Friday, the 24th of Dalwa, 1399 H.S. (February 2021), in Zawa village of Shirzad district, Nangarhar. While engaged in direct combat with Daesh insurgents, he was initially wounded and subsequently martyred in an unexpected drone strike carried out by American forces.
Note:
The martyrdom of Rehan serves as a compelling example of the collaboration between Daesh and American forces. He was initially wounded in a battle with Daesh and subsequently targeted by a U.S. drone.
Rehan was known for his devoutness, honesty, and exemplary conduct, commanding profound respect within his community. His demeanor was characterized by a genial smile, and he epitomized unity and obedience among his fellow Mujahideen.
In central Ghazni province and its environs, he fought against numerous oppressive and murderous agents of the Ghani regime, who had inflicted hardship upon innocent civilians. He also assumed the role of a group leader in various provincial operations, confronting numerous nocturnal enemy incursions and operations. Nevertheless, he remained resolute in his role as a dedicated Mujahid until his martyrdom.
