In Islamic culture, martyrdom is not simply a historical event or a fleeting moment in the calendar of life; it is an eternal path and a profound truth that emanates from the veins of the Ummah’s honor and faith. This esteemed legacy, documented in the illustrious pages of Islamic history, not only epitomizes the highest form of sacrifice and devotion but also illustrates the unparalleled spirit of a believer who unwaveringly treads the path of Allah Almighty.
Today, we have received the saddening news of the martyrdom of Khalil-ur-Rehman Haqqani, a courageous individual dedicated to Islam and his homeland, who was tragically martyred by adversaries of Islam and humanity. A leader of piety and valor, he stood resolute against the trials of time, never yielding. He remained unwavering in his commitment to jihad, dedicating a significant portion of his life to combatting two prominent global powers of the time—the Soviet Union and the United States—on the forefront of resistance. He was a beacon of piety and courage.
After the establishment of the Islamic Emirate and the withdrawal of American occupiers, he was appointed as the Minister for Refugees. He dedicated all his efforts to restoring the dignity of Muslim refugees. His efforts in facilitating the return of refugees from Iran and Pakistan stand as a testament to his deep commitment to his Islamic mission.
We are successors to the caravan that has chosen martyrdom as its ultimate destination. Throughout every generation, this caravan passes the torch of truth to those who are willing to sacrifice their blood in defense of religion and justice. Martyrdom is not confined to the battlefield; every place where a person stands against oppression and falsehood to uphold truth and justice becomes a field of jihad.
This is the truth that history attests to: martyrdom is neither an end nor a demise. Instead, it is the pinnacle of eternal life and the rising sun of faith. The survival of the Islamic system and the continuation of the banner of truth are impossible without sacrifice and devotion. Although the enemies may believe that they can extinguish the light of truth by killing believers, they fail to understand that the blood of martyrs is a radiant torch that further illuminates the hearts of the people.
Have faith in your nation, for in times of tribulation, trustworthy and sincere individuals are rare. Yet, even a small number of such people is enough to keep the path of truth illuminated. The martyrdom of Khalil-ur-Rehman Haqqani reminds us that the path of jihad has no end, and sacrifices will never diminish. Each generation forms a link in this luminous chain.
