Among all militant and insurgent groups, ISIS has exploited propaganda and social media strategies in an exceptionally aggressive and calculated manner. It fully leveraged modern propaganda tools—now integral components of the global communication landscape—not only to amplify its image but also to obscure and sanitize the brutal realities of its actions.
In a world where information and media play a central role in shaping public perception and recruiting sympathizers, ISIS outpaced many contemporary movements. Its grand narratives and promotional content exaggerated its influence and operations far beyond what was actually accomplished on the ground.
The media and platforms under ISIS’s control were initially effective in attracting followers and building a formidable militant force. These tools became the primary means by which the group expanded its “black army.” However, as the timeless struggle between truth and falsehood continued, Allah the Almighty gradually exposed the corrupt intentions and dark ambitions of ISIS and its allies to the world.
As ISIS amplified its rhetoric of superiority and dominance, Allah SWT empowered the true Mujahideen and defenders of Islam to dismantle its false image and expose its sinister reality. Over time, the impurity of ISIS’s objectives and the malevolence of its conduct became increasingly evident—especially to the youth who had once been seduced by its propaganda. Allah revealed the true face of this movement, stripping away its deceptive façade.
ISIS took full advantage of propaganda tools, not only to attract manpower but also to solicit substantial material and financial support.
In an era overwhelmed by corruption and conflict, Allah has continued to guide sincere hearts—those who are willing to sacrifice their wealth and lives in the defense of truth and in the path of jihad.
ISIS exploited the sincerity of such individuals and, through its media manipulation, amassed significant resources that sustained its activities for a time.
At its core, the ISIS phenomenon is a manifestation of radical ideological and intellectual foundations. It reflects the distorted beliefs and misguided ambitions the group harbored for the future of the Muslim Ummah. ISIS was inflated and strategically utilized by Western and colonial powers, who sought to vilify and undermine legitimate jihadist and resistance movements by associating them with ISIS’s horrors and extremism.
Every maneuver executed by ISIS was primarily designed to instill fear and terror within the communities it sought to dominate. The atmosphere of dread it created reverberated far beyond the regions under its control, casting a shadow of grief and horror across the world. Wherever ISIS advanced, it plundered not only property and wealth but also violated the sanctity and dignity of the people.
Despite revealing its corrupt character on the real-world battlefield, ISIS attempted to rebrand itself by dominating virtual spaces and manipulating digital narratives. This calculated use of media allowed it to deceive segments of the population temporarily and keep its narrative alive.
The instrumentalization of propaganda proved particularly effective in attracting young individuals, many of whom were lured into the movement through carefully crafted messages that distorted reality and glorified violence. In Europe and other regions where ISIS-affiliated media was active, individuals—especially those still holding onto faith and conscience—were targeted and drawn in by these deceitful campaigns.
Yet, just as Allah extinguished every fire ignited against the truth, the propaganda of ISIS was ultimately dismantled through the unwavering efforts of sincere scholars, Mujahideen, and protectors of the Ummah. Their sacrifices and clarity helped reveal the true nature of ISIS to the world, particularly to those who had once admired it from a distance.
Now that ISIS has lost both its territorial grip and its fabricated digital persona, it has resorted to new tactics and deceptive strategies in a desperate bid to revive its influence and maintain recruitment channels. Once deluded into believing in its own invincibility, ISIS—after enduring successive defeats—has come to rely on fraud and manipulation to attract supporters.
