Part 1
Author: Osama Nahzat
Throughout the history of the Islamic Ummah, numerous groups, movements, and parties have emerged from within its own ranks—each portraying itself as a genuine supporter of Islam, a devoted follower of the divine path, and a bearer of the flag of truth.
Among these, some groups remained true to their claims, maintaining consistency between their words and deeds. Others, however, relied on hollow slogans and deceptive rhetoric to manipulate the collective mindset of the Ummah. These latter groups forged a chasm between their lofty claims and their actual conduct—a gap as vast as the distance between the heavens and the earth.
In the modern era, various movements have once again appeared, each under its own colorful banner, claiming to represent authentic Islam and calling Muslims to their cause. Among the most infamous of these is Daesh—a group whose actions have starkly contradicted its proclaimed Islamic ideals. This series of articles seeks to examine the deep dissonance between their outward slogans and their grim reality, exposing the severe damage they have inflicted upon the Ummah.
The Daeshi Khawarij belong to a misguided lineage that, from the time of their ominous inception until now, has sought to deceive the Muslim world. By cloaking themselves in religious terminology and outward piety, they have used attractive yet internally poisonous rhetoric—particularly targeting the youth, whom they aim to indoctrinate and isolate.
In each installment of this series, we will analyze one of the hollow slogans propagated by the Khawarij and scrutinize it through the lens of their actual behavior. This approach will unveil how, under the guise of religious authenticity, they have inflicted some of the gravest harms upon the Islamic Ummah.
By exploiting the genuine religious zeal of Muslim youth, Daesh has severed them from their families, societies, and the true path of Islam. It has driven them toward a path of destruction—one that not only ruined their lives but also ignited flames of fitnah across the Muslim world.

In a manner reminiscent of their ideological forebears from the early centuries of Islam, the modern Khawarij have preyed upon simple and sincere individuals by presenting a religious façade.
A mere moment of reflection upon the deeds of this group reveals a chilling truth: their true enmity lies not with the global tyrants and forces of disbelief, but with the believers themselves—the people of the Qiblah. They have declared those who opposed their perverted ideology to be disbelievers and have shamelessly shed their blood.
Indeed, the slogans of unity, jihad, caliphate, and Shari‘ah were nothing more than a veneer for the political ambitions of the Khawarij’s leadership. These slogans served only as tools in their quest for dominance, not as sincere commitments to the sacred principles of Islam.
It was these treacherous and hypocritical acts that led Daesh to become an object of widespread revulsion among Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama‘ah. Prominent scholars across all major Islamic schools took a decisive stand against the group, condemning its deviance in clear and unequivocal terms.
In conclusion, it is our hope that this series will serve as a beacon for the young Muslim generation—instilling in them discernment and clarity so that they may resist such fitnah. May they not be deceived by the superficial beauty of religious slogans that mask emptiness, deviance, and destruction.
