According to Turkish media reports, approximately 34 individuals have been arrested in various provinces over the past few days on charges of being associated with ISIS-Khawarij.
Turkish Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced on X that 34 foreigners suspected of having connections to ISIS were apprehended in ‘Operation Cage-35’, which also included individuals sought by an Interpol red notice.
Turkish authorities have ramped up operations against ISIS-Khawarij after two gunmen killed a person in an Istanbul church last week during Sunday service.
Previously, the Minister of Interior of Turkey disclosed the apprehension of numerous individuals.
The Turkish government has not yet disclosed the identities of the newly arrested foreign nationals, but it is highly likely that these individuals, much like the church assailant, are residents of Tajikistan and other Central Asian countries.
