There is no doubt that, even after the chaotic trajectory of Western democracy, Afghanistan was heading toward the catastrophic events of the 1970s. However, the political and military measures of the IEA and its commitment to the true principles of Islamic Shariah became the means to rescue Afghanistan once again. Within just two weeks, the country witnessed the establishment of a firm and genuine Islamic system that not only put an end to internal conflicts but also ensured that such discord would no longer threaten its people. Today, Afghans can clearly distinguish between what Western democracy and sacred Islamic Sharia have brought to them, and under which system their honor and dignity are safeguarded.
As previously noted, democracy is merely a propaganda tool wielded by Western nations. They have consistently sought to mislead certain movements and leaders in the Islamic world, bringing graduates of American universities to power and installing them on thrones under the guise of Islamic republics and democratic slogans.
Unfortunately, some of these leaders have succumbed to the influence of democracy, even praising it and introducing terms such as “Islamic democracy.” For instance, in 1992, during his political exile, Rashid al-Ghannouchi, the prominent Islamic leader of Tunisia, remarked in an interview with the London Observer:
“If democracy refers to the liberal model of governance practiced in the West—a system where people freely elect their representatives and leaders, and where liberties, power, and human rights are entrusted to the people—then Muslims will not find anything in their religion that contradicts democracy. Nor would adopting such a system be against their interests.”
Unfortunately, many other Muslim leaders have similarly embraced Western influences, considering democracy to be a suitable means of achieving Islamic objectives in the modern world. However, they fail to recognize a profound truth: Islam explicitly prohibits its followers from adhering to man-made laws and instead calls for strict adherence to divine and heavenly law. This law, superior to human intellect and ingenuity, comprehensively addresses the spiritual and physical needs of humanity, considering all aspects of their existence.
In conclusion, it must be acknowledged that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan rejects foreign and Western models. The root cause of Afghanistan’s decades-long internal conflicts has been the absence of a pure Islamic system. If implementing liberal or Western democratic principles had been a viable solution, it would have already brought peace to Afghanistan. However, history shows otherwise.
Afghanistan can only attain enduring peace and stability through the establishment and enforcement of Islamic Sharia. A key strength of the Islamic Emirate lies in its respect for the spiritual aspirations of the population. With the exception of a small minority of individuals influenced by Western ideologies, the vast majority of Afghans are keenly aware of the ethical shortcomings and inherent weaknesses of democracy and adamantly oppose it.
