In an official statement, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) announced that significant members of the ISIS group responsible for the attack on employees of the Directorate of Compliance and Oversight of Orders and Decrees in Kabul on the 2nd of September 2024, have been apprehended in a special operation.

Furthermore, it was disclosed in the statement that in addition to the Kabul assault, this group was also involved in the planning and execution of the attack on Spanish tourists in Bamyan province. The individuals associated with the group were apprehended in Kabul and Nangarhar after a pursuit by authorities.

As per the statement, a Tajik national, who was being groomed by Daesh for a suicide mission, was apprehended alive along with an explosive vest and ammunition from the hideout of the mastermind behind the Kabul attack.

For the first time, Zabihullah Mujahid officially confirmed previous reports from Al-Mersaad Media that the leadership of the IS-K had moved to Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the assistance of certain intelligence entities. Investigations have revealed that the assailant who targeted the employees of the Directorate of Compliance and Oversight had infiltrated Afghanistan from a Daesh Khorasan training camp situated in Mastung, Balochistan.

Mujahid further stated that in the follow-up operations in Kabul and Nangarhar, two ISIS members were killed and several others were captured alive in operations in Faryab province. Some of those captured had also been sent from Balochistan to Afghanistan after receiving training.

Al-Mersaad had repeatedly reported, based on its sources, that the leadership of the IS-K had relocated to Balochistan after being weakened in Afghanistan. They established centers there and have been planning attacks, not only in Afghanistan but also in the region and globally, training individuals for such operations.

The transfer of ISIS fighters to Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the planning of attacks from there have become a serious problem, not just for Afghanistan, but also for neighboring countries and the world.

Al-Mersaad is working to obtain and release the video confessions of the newly arrested group.
