Sources told Al-Mirsaad that hardline ISIS militants opposed to ties with intelligence agencies have killed one of their own members in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on espionage charges.
According to available information, the slain ISIS militant was named Roohullah, who was known among the ranks of the ISIS-Khawarij by the names Zakariya and Ahmad.
Al-Mirsaad sources say that Roohullah had been recruited into the ranks of the ISIS-Khawarij several years ago in Turkey. In Afghanistan, in addition to carrying out attacks against civilian and military targets, he was also involved in kidnapping operations conducted under the ISIS-Khawarij economic department.
ISIS members became suspicious of him on several occasions, particularly after he abandoned some of his associates during a kidnapping case involving a child in Balkh province, Afghanistan. Those associates were later killed during the operation. Following the incident, Roohullah fled to ISIS centers in the Jabar Mela area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the sources, several hardline ISIS members had long suspected Roohullah. Eventually, after their investigation, they decided to execute him.
Tirah, Jabar Mela, Tor Dara, and Orakzai are now considered major strongholds of the ISIS-Khawarij in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
On February 28, operations were carried out against their centers in Tor Dara, Tirah using laser-guided weapons, resulting in the deaths of ten ISIS militants. Similarly, on March 1, an operation in the Turkani and Narik areas of Ghiljo in Orakzai led to the deaths of nine ISIS militants, including two key commanders, Haji Abdul Rehman (Abu Nasir) and Mullah Farooqi.
