These nations have provided financial, military, logistical, intelligence, educational, and other types of support to ISIS, leading to ongoing conflict and devastation in the Islamic world.
Below are some key reasons why Western powers support ISIS:
1. Preventing the Spread of Islam
In recent times, a significant concern for European and American nations has been the increasing number of Islamic followers. The extensive media coverage of ISIS’s brutal actions, along with the impact of social media platforms such as Facebook, has been utilized to stoke anti-Islamic sentiments, portraying Islam as a source of fear, consequently diminishing its appeal and reducing its followers.
2. Diminishing the Muslim Population Through Violence
ISIS’s primary objective has been killing Muslims. This reduces the number of Muslim men, leaving their families—women and children—facing various hardships, further weakening the Muslim population.
3. Ensuring the Security of Israel
Israel benefits the most from ISIS’s presence and crimes in the region. In addition to public support, some Israeli forces have allegedly been sent to ISIS, wearing different uniforms to aid in planning their operations. The goal is to reduce threats from neighboring countries to ensure Israel’s safety.
4. Selling Weapons
Weapons companies are key players in fueling wars by selling military equipment to both sides of conflicts. ISIS has generated huge profits for these companies by increasing the demand for arms.
5. Thwarting Muslim Power and Solidarity
Western countries, particularly the U.S. and Israel, fear the unity of Muslims. They see it as a threat to their power. ISIS helps to weaken the relationships between Muslim countries, keeping them divided and preventing them from gaining strength.
6. Facilitating U.S. Interventions in the Region
After invading Afghanistan and Iraq, the U.S. looted these countries for years. Once the people resisted, the U.S. withdrew its forces. However, with the rise of ISIS, the U.S. found a reason to re-enter Iraq, under the guise of fighting terrorism, allowing them to intervene whenever they wish.
7. Access to Cheap Oil
Certain nations have benefited from procuring oil from ISIS-controlled territories in Iraq and Syria at significantly reduced prices. As per disclosed information, specific governments utilized humanitarian and medical organizations as fronts to dispatch militants into Syria for identifying and pursuing their goals, particularly in terms of oil reserve control.
These are some of the primary reasons behind the ongoing support for ISIS by Western powers. Their shared interests in maintaining instability in the region enable them to continue profiting from chaos while undermining the Muslim world.
