In the aftermath of prolonged occupation and crisis, Afghanistan has now entered a defining phase of independence, security, and Islamic governance. However, at this critical juncture, extremist and hardline factions such as ISIS have begun efforts to destabilize the nation’s progress by sowing division, insecurity, and violence. Their intent is to resurrect the failed agendas of foreign powers and derail the path of Afghanistan’s Muslim and Mujahid nation.
ISIS, deeply rooted in rigid and takfiri ideologies, has consistently operated as a proxy for hegemonic and intelligence forces in the region. The group’s presence holds no legitimacy or social standing in Afghanistan and stands in stark contradiction to the religious, jurisprudential, and cultural values of its people. While the Islamic system currently governing Afghanistan is firmly grounded in Shariah and led by esteemed scholars, religious leaders, and memorizers of the Qur’an, ISIS promotes a distorted and disgraceful version of Islam. Through indiscriminate killings, senseless extremism, and the excommunication (takfir) of fellow Muslims, ISIS achieves nothing but tarnishes the noble image of Islam and brings disrepute to the wider Muslim Ummah.
From the standpoint of Islamic jurisprudence, any armed insurrection or violent assault against a government that derives its legitimacy from divine Shariah and is led by rulers who operate within the framework of Islam is deemed an act of rebellion. Islamic scholars not only prohibit such acts but affirm that they warrant a firm and lawful response according to the principles of Shariah.
The Afghan people, who valiantly resisted decades of foreign occupation and offered immense sacrifices in defense of their faith and homeland, are well aware of the deceptive nature of ISIS. These groups represent the continuation of externally sponsored projects that, masked in religious rhetoric, seek to fracture unity, weaken Islamic conviction, and plunge the country into chaos.
Today’s Afghanistan is on a path toward becoming a sovereign Islamic nation—free from foreign military presence and immune to the influence of colonial culture. In such a country, there exists no space for ISIS or any group that seeks to spread corruption, violence, and extremism. The vigilant and devout Muslim nation of Afghanistan will remain unwavering in its commitment to defending its religion, homeland, and sacred values.
