The Hidden Political Game Behind the Assassination of Religious Scholars

Mufti Sultan Muhammad Saqib

It is a clear fact that religious scholars in every society are recognized as the intellectual guides of the people, the moral trainers, and the protectors of the ideological identity of the masses. They are considered the main axis of intellectual awakening and social consciousness of the Ummah. Ordinary people take their intellectual direction, way of life, and even political positions from the speeches, actions, and guidance of the religious scholars.

In particular, when for several centuries the concept of jihad had become weak, the scholars of the time, especially the representatives of the Hanafi school, revived it again through their financial, physical, and intellectual sacrifices. It was these scholars who kept alive the spirit of resistance, honor, and independence among the Ummah.

Afghan scholars further continued this chain and are still strong supporters of the same thought.

Whenever international powers realized that the intellectual and practical struggle of religious scholars at the level of Asia was having a serious impact on their influence and interests, they initiated a covert political game in order to weaken, isolate, and eliminate this ideology. For the implementation of this project, some Islamic countries were used as instruments, and in this regard, that particular circle in Pakistan has also been included, which has been assigned to implement this policy.

To the respected religious scholars of Pakistan!

Until when will you remain asleep in negligence? Day by day, your leading scholars are being targeted, martyred, and becoming victims of this hidden political game. How long will you remain silent under the name of moderation? For decades you have been suffering, yet there has still been no deep analysis of the situation.

And what is even more astonishing is that whenever someone within your system rises against the interests of a certain oppressive and dependent circle, in response they target by those scholars who, in terms of thought, align with the opposing side. During the period of confrontation with India, those scholars were martyred who were ideologically aligned with the Deobandi school of thought.

Now that hostility has been directed against the Islamic system in Afghanistan, those scholars in Pakistan who maintain deep ideological and scholarly ties with Afghan religious scholars are being made victims of the same political game. A clear example of this is the Asia-level great Muhaddith, Shaheed Sheikh Idris (RH). This is an incident that you all witnessed with your own eyes.

Until when will we remain victims of hidden political games? Sometimes the blame for martyrdom is placed on India, sometimes on Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and sometimes on ISIS. Sincere students and the public shed tears for a few days, and then everything is forgotten again. If you do not seriously reflect on your future fate, then this chain will continue in the same way, and this caravan will only grow longer.

The ideology and beliefs of the Daeish Khawarij are based on ignorance, extremism, violence, arrogance, and pride. They interpret and explain the sacred Islamic texts and teachings according to their own desires, personal inclinations, and limited understanding.

Those who oppose their views, even if they are great believers like the Amir-ul-Momineen, Ali ibn Abi Talib (RA), are declared disbelievers and deemed worthy of death.

Under the guise of superficial and ignorant asceticism, they consider even eating a single date fallen from a foreign tree to be unlawful. However, they show no regard for the sanctity, honor, status, and dignity of the blessed blood, lives, and ranks of the Companions of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the believing Ummah. Rather, they even regard the killing of these believers as a means of attaining Paradise.

In Pakistan, the military generals created a second force to target religious scholars and sincere believers, and named it “ISIS.” Military generals now use this blind tool in the name of ISIS to target lives. the United States conducted an intelligence game under the name of ISIS across many countries, which did not produce any positive results. Eventually, it was handed over to its former subordinate, the Pakistani military regime, and the process of its use is being witnessed by us all today.

If we return to yesterday’s tragic incident, the responsibility of the attack was also attributed to the group ISIS. One notable point in the report was a statement that does not align with reality: “near the border with Afghanistan.” However, the actual location of the incident is far from the DurandLine.

Including such phrases in a report that have no real connection to the incident is considered by some as a form of political framing. This particular phrase is described as an imposed line, inserted to shift responsibility toward Afghanistan, thereby preparing a pre-existing justification for blame.

Devoted people of Pakistan!
The blood of scholars is the lamp of awakening for the Ummah. Those who extinguish these lamps, in reality, push the Ummah toward future darkness. If today you do not take account of the blood of your scholars, if you do not understand the roots of these hidden political games, and if you do not raise your voice against oppressive intelligence networks, then tomorrow not only the scholars, but also the intellectual strongholds of Islam, the creed of the Ummah, and the future of Muslims will be thrown into the flames of the same fire.

Then neither the tears of mourning will be of any benefit, nor the excuse of silence; because history never forgives nations that remain asleep in negligence.
