Sources told Al-Mirsaad that unidentified gunmen launched an overnight assault on an ISIS-K hideout in the Shinkai area of Qambar Khel, Bara, near the city of Peshawar. The attack killed eleven militants and wounded three others.
According to the sources, most of those killed were foreign nationals who had relocated there after drone strikes targeted their facilities in the Jabar Mela area in late November last year. The sources added that the Shinkai area lies only a few kilometers from Peshawar’s Hayatabad and noted that Pakistani military posts are located within three kilometers of the targeted hideout.
Sources confirmed to Al-Mirsaad that after ISIS-K strongholds in Mastung, Balochistan, were dismantled, the group shifted its focus to Khyber District.
Militants who fled Mastung are now reportedly attempting to regroup and reorganize their operations in the district’s mountainous regions, the sources said.
