Wolves in Different Cloaks: Zionism and ISIS Against Islam

Written by: Ehsan Arab

While no direct or official link exists between the notorious ISIS group and the Zionist regime, mounting evidence and in-depth analyses in recent years expose a covert convergence of interests—particularly in destabilizing Islamic nations and undermining legitimate jihadist movements.

Despite differences in structure and outward form, the Zionist regime and the modern-day Khawarij (ISIS) share common ground in numerous areas. They may act independently, but their trajectories consistently intersect. This article highlights several key dimensions of their shared hostility toward Islam and the Muslim Ummah.

1. Assault on the True Image of Islam

ISIS, through its extreme violence, takfir, and inhumane conduct, has projected a grotesque and false image of Islam to the global public. This image—rooted in distortion and brutality—conveniently supports the long-standing agenda of the Zionist regime and its Western allies, who have invested heavily in portraying Islam as a religion of violence and terror.

By amplifying a false representation of Islam, the Zionist regime aims to condition the global community to view Islamic movements as existential threats. In this effort, ISIS has become a useful instrument—whether knowingly or unknowingly—by reinforcing the Islamophobic narratives spread by Zionist and Western propaganda machines.

2. Hostility Toward Jihadi Movements

Despite its rhetorical claims of defending Islam, ISIS has, in practice, waged relentless war against other jihadist groups—especially those engaged in direct resistance to the Zionist regime. Wherever a genuine Islamic movement has risen to challenge Israeli oppression, ISIS has curiously appeared to divert, weaken, or outright destroy such resistance.

This pattern has led many observers to note that the emergence of ISIS in opposition to anti-Zionist forces seems less coincidental and more coordinated—resembling the actions of an entity serving Zionist interests under the guise of an Islamic banner.

3. Fragmentation of the Islamic World

One of the core strategic objectives of the Zionist regime has long been the division of major Islamic states into smaller, weaker, and more controllable entities. This vision, articulated in plans such as the “New Middle East” and the “Bernard Lewis Project,” seeks to dismantle unified Islamic powers and replace them with fragile, divided states incapable of mounting collective resistance.

ISIS has served this agenda with remarkable consistency. Under the pretense of establishing a so-called caliphate, the group took active measures to dismantle the central governments of Iraq and Syria, deepening sectarian strife and accelerating the disintegration of cohesive Islamic societies. The practical effects of ISIS’s actions have, in many respects, mirrored those of the Zionist regime.

Shared Characteristics in Practice

A closer examination of the actions of ISIS and the Zionist regime reveals undeniable similarities in methodology and outcomes:

a) Massacres of Innocent Civilians

Both entities have been responsible for the ruthless slaughter of innocent and defenseless civilians. Whether in the streets of Gaza or the cities of Iraq and Syria, their attacks have targeted the elderly, women, children, and even infants—atrocities that were often shamelessly framed as triumphs.

b) Desecration of Religious Sanctities

ISIS has destroyed mosques, shrines, and sacred Islamic sites while shedding the blood of innocent Muslims. Meanwhile, the Zionist regime has repeatedly violated the sanctity of Masjid al-Aqsa and bombed places of worship in Palestine—both displaying a flagrant disregard for Islamic holiness and identity.

c) Media and Psychological Warfare

ISIS and the Zionist regime alike have weaponized modern media to serve their interests. Through psychological operations and digital campaigns, they have manipulated public perceptions, spread fear, and attempted to justify their criminal actions in the name of security or religion.

Conclusion: Two Blades, One Scissor

ISIS and the Zionist regime are not adversaries but complements. One hides behind the mask of “religion,” the other of “democracy”—yet both serve the same brutal goal: a fractured, subjugated Muslim world.

Their synchronized assaults—from within and without—expose an inescapable truth:

They are wolves in different cloaks, hunting the same prey.
